We’ve served country, community, work and family. We have done our duty and followed the advice of experts. In that process, too many of us have lost the fire of passion for youthful dreams, and let go our visions of a different kind of life.
Now is our time to re-engage ideas, vision and purpose, and maybe even to “leave our dent in the universe”. (quoting Steve Jobs)
Boomers Reinvented are refreshing, renewing and reinventing instead of retiring; We are taking charge and creating the lives we’ve always wanted. We came in with a boom and we are going to live out the rest of our lives having a bang of a blast, while making a tremendous and positive difference in the world.
In much of society today, there is an age-bias that elevates youth and beauty over experience and wisdom, leading to a sometimes alarming generation gap bordering on disrespect and discounting of the value of the wisdom years. Even more alarming is how too many of the aging population are discounting themselves and their own contribution.
Too many ‘baby boomers and beyond’ have come to believe that they “must be getting old”, rather than that they’ve amassed a wealth of wisdom worth sharing with a world in need. Too many boomers and seniors have bought the myth of “retiring” from active contribution and participation, at an age and era when they’re needed now more than ever.
‘Boomers and Beyond’ are needed today…and they need to be celebrated, elevated, engaged and empowered to excel and thrive during this second half of life. The world needs their energy and their wisdom, and it’s time to set them free to be all that they can be. Time to shed the boundaries of custom and circumstance, and explore and encourage dreams long buried, shine tarnished hopes, and bring to life the stored remnants of knowledge and weave it into creative tapestries that reveal the grace and glory of aging.
What constitutes a life well lived is: growth and contribution. It’s time for Boomers and Beyond to stake their claim in this evolving global landscape and let their voices be heard and their talents and wisdom shared.
As sports fans know, the second half of any game is more important than the first half. It’s the same for life. The one who wins the race is the one who pushes when he’d rather rest; the one who keeps on going no matter what, and the one who plays his best in the second half especially. She is the one who wins in the end, in particular, wins the competition with herself. Pushing through to our personal best is where we find our best life. It’s time to reawaken the passions of the Baby Boomer and Beyond generation…awaken and empower them to live their dreams and create the life only imagined thus far, and then step back and watch amazing things happen.
Pushing through to our personal best is where we find our best possible life.
And above all:
“Do not be led by others. Awaken your own mind, amass your own experience, and decide for yourself your own path.”
